This completes the restoration of the bottom section of the bird cage
The case was completely re-glued, missing corners filled and re gilded with 18k Gold leaf                 on the flat panels and 24k gold leaf on the 8 plaster of Paris moldings as was                                                                      done originally.
           * Next is to re-feather the birds and to create the missing coin mechanism etc.

The following pictures are to show the progress as well as the many steps involved in re-feathering a singing bird for use by other restorers of automata.

Oct 25th work continues this week with the final feathering and regulation of the clock works.
While I did receive a few pictures of a similar coin operated Bontons Single bird cage from Michael & Maria Start, the actual part of the clock work that operates the stop and drop of the coin is missing and a very difficult part to make $$$. I have put out a search for this item and hopefully someone will be kind enough to contact me. I have continued on and completed the restoration so for now the 3 bird Bontons project is completed.
