Related to Ephrem Zimballist, Sr. (the famed concert violinst), he founded the Zimbalist Music Box Company which operated out of Cleveland, Ohio.
He is known for these highly prized and unique pieces that were hand tooled in India though often similar no two were exactly the same).
Years ago "Fred Zimbalist" imported specially hand carved cases made from rare and exotic woods created by crafts men in India and this may be from his collection?
